Kredivo Partners with MRT Jakarta to Launch Indonesia’s First Paylater for Public Transport

Starting October 2024, Jakarta MRT commuters can purchase tickets and pay later through Kredivo, our portfolio digital credit platform. The integration marks the first time a paylater service has been embedded directly into Indonesia’s public transportation system.

The implementation has been running for approximately one month and is showing strong potential, with the two services sharing similar user segments. Out of 10 million Kredivo users in Indonesia, 15% to 20% are located in Jakarta. Farchad Mahfud, Director of Business Development at MRT Jakarta, explained that the collaboration is aimed at providing more options to users who are increasingly familiar with technology.

The integration also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in line with Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK) roadmap — each commuter choosing MRT over private vehicles reduces carbon output, and frictionless payment removes a behavioral barrier.
