Kejora’s Andy Zain Reflects on Indonesia’s Tech Wave at Monash Alumni Panel
Kejora Capital Founder Andy Zain opened up about his journey at the Monash Alumni Panel on September 24, walking through his view of Indonesia’s technology scene, from the earliest days of mobile internet to where generative AI is taking us.
For Zain, who has watched the nation move through wave after wave of technology shift, from digital platforms to today’s generative AI boom, the discussion gave him a momentum to reflect on what’s fundamentally different this time around, and what feels familiar.
The panel was part of Monash Alumni Indonesia Professional Connect 2026, an eventful evening bringing together alumni from across Indonesia to reconnect, trade ideas, and grow their professional networks.
Zain joined two fellow panelists: Yasmine Sembiring, Executive Director of AFPI (Indonesian Fintech P2P Lending Association), and Iwan Murty, Founder and CEO of RB Consulting.
Together, the three later discussed a wide range of topics involving digital technologies, AI, and how Indonesian consumers have shifted over the years as a result.

The conversation also turned to where business leaders should be looking over the next 3-5 years, including paying closer attention to where technology actually changes Indonesian consumer behavior.
Looking ahead, each panelist shared where they see Indonesia’s biggest opportunity to create value through technology as the country’s scale remains its greatest advantage, a young, digitally fluent population.
